MoodleMoot Global 2025: Program is out! Here's your first look.
MoodleMoot Global is coming soon, and we cannot wait to meet you all in Edinburgh, Scotland! As we gear up for three days of a packed program from 16-18 September 2025 to be held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), we’ve been preparing the perfect agenda for you.
What is really exciting this year is that YOU have helped us shape the program! Educators, learning designers, technologists, researchers, workplace learning leaders, and change agents from all over the world have shared their ideas on how to create “Learning to Shape Tomorrow”. That’s why picking out the topics hasn’t been an easy task. Yet, here we are!
Now, here’s everything that you can expect from the agenda.
Opening the floor with our keynote speakers
No MoodleMoot Global is truly complete without our keynote speakers. They set the stage each day for a powerful lineup of speakers, workshops, and sessions, and together their voices shape the future of learning. This year, we continue the tradition with our CEO, Scott Anderberg, our Chief Product Officer, Marie Achour, and a leading expert on the future of work, AI, and diversity, Dr. Naeema Pasha.
Speaking of Industry 5.0…
Dr. Pasha’s talk ‘Nurturing Growth in the Industry 5.0 Era’ will act as a window to what the future looks like. What will happen when human intelligence and AI merge? How will it change our workspaces, our schools, and our universities? How will learning change, and how do we evolve with it?
The core principle of Industry 5.0 is its prioritisation of human-machine collaboration, to strike a balance of technological advances with social and environmental responsibilities.
Dr. Pasha will share insights from her work on Industry 5.0 at Henley Business School and the role emotional intelligence, ethical reasoning, and inclusive leadership can play in creating a balanced human-AI symbiosis in Industry 5.0.
Moodle’s product evolution
Moodle constantly evolves with the changing needs of its educators, learners, and trainers, and Marie Achour will explain how. It is becoming more focused, more agile, and it will continue to deliver value faster, in a more meaningful way. Marie will give you a first-hand experience of how the product works, plus how it’s being restructured around user-centred design.
You will also get an exclusive look at how the Moodle product suite is evolving. There are new solutions in the pipeline, including updates that will make the platform more intuitive and flexible, which is an absolute necessity in education and training.
The real stories
We always encourage and enjoy listening to the real-world stories that our community shares with us. At MoodleMoot Global, we’ll highlight some very interesting stories about how organisations are cracking the code to create the best Moodle experiences.
Here are some glimpses of what you can expect:
Bringing European history to life
The House of European History, in collaboration with Avetica, has created a whole new way of learning history. HistoriCall, a Moodle-powered platform, is designed to engage young learners and give them the opportunity to explore diverse viewpoints and reflect critically on history.
The Visible Thinking method, an initiative by Project Zero from Harvard University, is the foundation of HistoriCall’s pedagogy. It guides the structure and flow of the content, creating an inquiry-based learning experience for the students.
Self-supporting Moodle site
A self-managing Moodle site is no longer a dream. With AI’s assistance, your Moodle site can manage itself, improve user experience, and continue to deliver excellent learning.
Edward McLaughlin & Sascha Benson-Cooper (Accipio) will introduce MCP Agent, an AI-powered assistant that integrates directly with Moodle’s API to automate high-volume, repetitive admin tasks. They will take you through several working examples and what your next roadmap can be like.
Reimagining course design for the streaming generation
What if Moodle worked like Netflix? Most of our popular streaming platforms are easy to use, customisable, and visually appealing. Moodle, too, can be used in the same way. Lewis Carr, the Founder of AdaptiVLE and a Moodle enthusiast, will explain how to build a new Moodle course format with custom activities inspired by the interfaces people already know and love.
In his session, he’ll present a course that looks and feels radically different from a traditional Moodle setup. The presentation will also explore these key points:
- Practical ideas for improving Moodle UX without core hacks
- A framework for designing with user-first principles in mind
- Visual inspiration to help sell the idea of modern Moodle to sceptical stakeholders
And there’s more!
We will, of course, have some very exciting new updates to share with you. From upgrades to integrations, you will get a clear picture of what lies ahead for Moodle and how we are going to make teaching and learning a lot more adaptive and interesting.
The future of work with Moodle Workplace
Workplace training is all about continuous growth, and that is exactly what Moodle Workplace supports. It takes into consideration the full learning lifecycle, including what is prescribed and what is self-directed, to help develop a future-ready workforce.
Our Product Director for Moodle Workplace, Emilio Lozano, will show you some of the recent innovations that can help professionals, HR managers, and team leaders to manage large-scale learning. It will also highlight how the platform is evolving towards a learner-centred, skills-based approach.
A mythical party and rewards
Legends have it that every MoodleMoot Global is followed by an even more legendary party. This year, you get to be a part of the most imaginative and whimsical party there is! Our theme, ‘Once Upon Tomorrow’, invites you to come as your most heroic, legendary, mythical self – whether that’s a time-travelling intellectual or a cyberpunk princess!
And as traditions would have it, we are celebrating the dreamers and trailblazers, our partners at the Global Partner Awards.
